In this pathway, walking on the day of surgery can be a planned step in ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery). Walking with support may be planned when the care team judges it safe; recovery varies.

Patients on the last operating list may wait if the spinal anaesthetic has not fully worn off. Recovery plans are individual.
